Prince Ashitaka from the film Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke). This was my first cosplay with Holly and probably took the longest to make. Worn at Otakon 2002 and Katsucon 2003. I've always been a big fan of Miyazaki's films, since Mononoke was one of his better known, me and holly decided to cosplay it. Everything except for my shoes were all made by hand from scratch. We did alter a pattern for my pants and shirt, but made the rest up. We also altered a pattern for her dress. The straw cape proved to be rediculously painfull to make, it is all rafia (fake hay) sewn on a beige cape. The arrow quiver is made out of suede and the arrows were all hand made, including fletching the arrows. The grey peices on the hood are actually painted plastic sewn onto the hood. The hood is fully lined. The scabbard's form is made from plastic and covered in suede. The sword consists of plastic, suede, metal file, and a metal ring as well as silver spray paint.
